Mega Millions

The Big Game or the Mega Millions Lottery as most people know it, was introduced on August 31st 1996 and this lotto game is credited as having the largest jackpot payout in North American history. The total lottery jackpot payout was a whooping $390 million and was collected by two very lucky ticket holders on June 3rd 2007.

Six US states took part in its first draw on September 6th 1996 and these were Maryland, Massachusetts, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia and Michigan.

The Mega Millions lotto game was an initial success with rapid growth after its launch and as a result another weekly Tuesday draw was introduced on February 1998. A number of new features were also added to this lotto in January 1999 and they included a bigger selection of numbers and a cash payout option as well.
