How Can I Stop These Euro Lottery Scams?

Have you ever received a letter or an Email telling you that you have won a prize in the Euro Millions Lottery?

All you've got to do is claim your cheque!!!

This is quite simply a scam and not even a very good one at that.  You must remember that no genuine lottery company would ever act in such a way, since they would never expect you to pay them so as to claim your Euro Millions winnings.

The promises made in these emails and letters vary, but usually look something like this, 'congratulations, you have won $300,000 in the European lottery, or Euro Millions'.  It also encloses what appears to be a genuine cheque for around $300,000 and requests you to contact them ASAP.  You should at this point smell a rat as this is nothing more than one of the many Euro Lottery Scams out there.

The cheque enclosed with the letter is supposedly to cover something ridiculous like 'non-residence taxes on the winnings' – The cheque is obviously bogus.  The idea is that you bank the cheque and then feel confident enough to send these unscrupulous rats some money for 'processing your claim'.  After all, what do you have to lose, A LOT!!!  ONE BIG AND EXPENSIVE MISTAKE.  Even if the cheque does clear, it will eventually be traced and the moment it has been spotted as a fraud, the bank will not honour it and you will lose the money that was initially credited to you.

The correct course of action would be to rip the cheque up into millions of pieces and most importantly, DO NOT provide these people (Sorry rats) with any of your personal information.

If you think that you have spotted a Lottery Scam or feel very suspicious about an Email or Letter you might have received, report it immediately to your local Law Enforcement Agency.   Depending on your country of residence this may get some action, but possibly not. However, if you don't report it then nothing will happen and there's a good chance someone else will get caught out soon.

You may be disappointed - but, obviously if you receive a notification that you have won anything in the Euro Millions and you have never entered the lottery, then it is clearly just another one of those Euro Lottery Scams.  Never pay a 'processing fee' or provide your bank details in the hope of receiving a Euro Lottery prize in the post.  You will be disappointed.!!!

Just remember that any Genuine Lottery Organisation will never ask you to send them a payment BEFORE releasing a prize to you.
